When school’s out for summer, a quick glance at some churches might give the impression that they’re on summer break too. Family vacations, summer sports leagues, kids’ activities, and warm weather can easily pull people away from church during summer. But before you miss a Worship Night, consider these three reasons why you need church this summer (and fall)!
Put the passion back in your weekend.
You Need Community
Here at The Torch we believe, “The best you is in community.” And it’s true! Your The Torch family is here to support you, encourage you, pray for you and push you forward in your walk with Jesus. And when you gather together with other believers to worship and honor Jesus, you can be certain he’ll be there too.
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
Being in community with other believers can help you draw near to Jesus. Let summer be a season of spiritual growth as you persist in your walk with Jesus by continuing to join others for church every weekend. Don’t miss out on how God wants to use your The Torch family in your life this summer and into the fall!
Saved people serve people.
Your Church Needs YOU
Just as you need community, others also need you. God wants to use you during this season to serve and encourage your The Torch family. Whether you’re warmly welcoming newcomers, teaching kids about Jesus, lending a listening ear or giving that much-needed hug, you are needed.
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” – Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NIV
You never know when or how God might use you in another person’s life. Be there to encourage and uplift your church family when they need it. Protect that Worship Night space and watch how God works through you this summer and into fall.
Your Kids Need Consistency
If you’re a parent, you’ve probably experienced your kids’ need for consistency. It creates a sense of security and lets kids know what to expect. Consistency also helps kids internalize the values you are instilling in them, including putting God first.
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” – Proverbs 22:6 NIV
Your kids are growing in their relationship with Jesus. And you have an opportunity to cultivate and nurture that spiritual growth! While so much of their routine changes when school is out for summer, you can teach your kids that focusing on Jesus remains a constant priority for your family. Regularly immersing them in community where they get to worship, learn and serve alongside others provides the consistency kids need, while helping them grow in their walk with Jesus.
The bottom line is that you always need your church family, and they need you too! Don’t let summer be a season of spiritual stagnation. Develop a habit of consistently joining your The Torch family every Worship Night throughout the summer, and continuing into the fall, and see how much you grow in your walk with Jesus!
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:24-25 NIV
